When the first cold snap arrives, a certain kind of Voluspa fan reaches for Blond Tabac. On TikTok it shows up as more than one person's favorite winter scent, and on Reddit it keeps landing in lists of all-time Voluspa favorites, often right beside French Cade Lavender.
If the word tobacco makes you think of an ashtray, the notes point somewhere softer. Voluspa builds it from warm perique tobacco, vanilla husk and sandalwood, and its own story about tweed smoking jackets and wood-paneled club rooms sets the mood well: dried, sweet leaf rather than smoke. A YouTuber who called it surprisingly gorgeous singled out the vanilla, sweet but kept in line by the sandalwood, and found the whole thing relaxing rather than heavy. A Russian candle channel praised it as strong without being overbearing, and Bloomingdale's shoppers describe a balanced vanilla and sandalwood they'd happily burn all year.
It also plays well with others. Someone who runs a business and burns candles there daily lists it among the brand's easygoing, widely liked scents, and one Reddit fan says the throw is very good and gives it as a gift. The lone sour note comes from a buyer who smelled it at a sister-in-law's, bought a 3-wick version, and found it never filled their own house.
Like Bourbon Vanille, it sits a few dollars above most of the line. The mini tin is $16, the Small Jar $26 for a stated 50 hours, the Classic $36, and the big 100-hour jar $44. Retail reviews run warm, with 4.7 stars from roughly 500 shoppers at Voluspa and five stars from every one of its 43 Nordstrom reviewers. For a cold-weather gift with a little swagger, it's an easy pick.
