The hesitation people bring to Coconut Papaya is the coconut. One shopper had been eyeing it for months but held off, afraid it would be the salty, suntan-lotion sort. According to a YouTube reviewer who burned it all the way down, it isn't: this is coconut meat and coconut milk, creamy and sweet, under a heap of very ripe fruit.
She calls it the most authentic papaya she has ever smelled, edible enough that she wanted to eat it, and titled her review around how underrated it is. Voluspa lists fresh coconut, mango blossom and papaya, with white peach and tropical flowers in the longer story. To her the peach reads as mango, the flowers barely show, and a little tang keeps the whole thing from turning syrupy. A blogger who picked it up when it launched in the Vermeil line, in pearly nude glass with star details, said it made home feel like a vacation.
In the 3-wick octagon tin, that YouTuber rated it about a seven for strength and nearly as high for throw, a touch more under a hurricane glass, and timed full burns at 40 to 42 hours. Some wax clung to the tin's walls early on, then slid into the pool over later burns.
Voluspa's Classic for this scent is a two-wick jar at $36, the Large Jar (18 ounces) runs $44, and the mini tin $16; one commenter found the two-wick at Nordstrom Rack for $24. Keep it for warm months, when a sweet fruit candle makes the most sense.
