Lemongrass, verbena and lime with a handful of cut herbs, in a black jar and garden-print box. Fresh and green, though some find it mostly lime once lit.
Jardin de Verveine arrives looking like a present before anyone wraps it: a black glass jar whose lid doubles as a base, tucked into a box printed with an overgrown garden. One blogger liked the packaging so much she assumed it belonged to a fancier tier of Voluspa. It comes from a newer Voluspa collection priced a little above the classics, and the 9.5 oz Classic sells for $38.
The scent is an herb garden after rain: lemon, May Chang and lemongrass up top, verbena, lime and geranium at the center with a touch of jasmine, then green anise and a flash of mint. Its fans are warm about it. A Nordstrom reviewer calls it their favorite, a summer breeze over fresh greens and a blooming meadow, and a Reddit fan who bought a batch of small tins says this one throws well cold and hot.
The skeptics zero in on what happens once it's lit. That blogger found it complex in the jar, then mostly lime while burning, light in throw and quicker to burn down than she expected, and a Candle Delirium buyer of the big 30 oz Luxe got almost nothing at their desk. If you're curious, start with the 4.5 oz Petite Jar ($18, about 35 hours) or a mini tin ($16) before the $40 Large Jar or the $90 Luxe. Either way, the black jar is worth keeping: even the blogger who didn't love the scent is holding on to hers.
Voluspa says the 5-Wick Hearth burns up to 250 hours. Size by size: Mini Tin, 25 h; Petite Jar, 35 h; Classic, 60 h; 3-Wick Tin, 40 h; Large Jar, 100 h; Luxe, 80 h; 5-Wick Hearth, 250 h.
What does Jardin De Verveine smell like?
Lemongrass, verbena and lime with a handful of fresh herb cuttings. The potting bench on a June morning. Voluspa lists notes of lemongrass, verbena, lime and herb cuttings. We file it under green.
Is Jardin De Verveine worth it?
It has no Glow Score yet: a score needs the candle's own Amazon rating, and it doesn't have one yet. The Mini Tin costs $16 and burns 25 hours; the 5-Wick Hearth burns up to 250 hours for $250.
