The couple behind a candle shop that has sold Voluspa for years can't even agree on what this one smells like. He gets mostly the ebony, dark and warm and woody; she gets the peach, loves it, and puts it in every room of the house. Their verdict is the one fans keep repeating: if peach isn't your thing, skip it, and if it is, it's hard to beat. It ranks among that shop's five best-selling Voluspas, and they rate it among the brand's better unisex scents.
The notes are solid black ebony wood, ripe peaches and apple blossom, with mahogany in the brand's description. A candle blogger who reviewed it back when it was a numbered limited edition noticed how the layers separate in a room: close up, mostly soft peach; at a distance, a warm wood with just a hint of fruit, which greeted her when she walked back into the house. Its retail reviewers lean the same way, warm without heaviness and sweet without overpowering.
The people who love it really love it. On Reddit it's one longtime fan's absolute favorite Voluspa and another has kept it on hand since their very first order, and both wish it came in more formats: a 5-wick hearth, a diffuser refill. A collector with the 3-wick Grande Maison says it fills a larger space with medium throw, and a smaller 2-wick version scents a foyer. Others have gone hunting for a dupe, from a home candle maker trying to recreate it to a fan who found a grocery-store lookalike at H-E-B.
Right now the line is shorter than most: a $16 mini tin, a Classic at $36 and an 18 oz Large Jar at $44.
