Noble Fir Garland smells like a real Christmas tree, and that is close to the whole story. Voluspa calls it its number one holiday fragrance, and the people burning it rarely reach for anything fancier than the tree lot to describe it: fresh-cut fir, a little sweetness like sap, and a warmth that makes the tree feel brought indoors rather than left out in the cold.
The note list is longer than the smell. Voluspa names fir needles, cedarwood, cardamom, glowing amber and cashmere musk (some listings add rosemary), but a YouTube candle reviewer with a big following went hunting for each one found mostly tree. She couldn't pick out the rosemary or any spice, and the amber showed up only as that cozy, indoor warmth. If you've been put off by rosemary on the label, she suggests you needn't be.
A Voluspa that climbs the stairs
The bigger surprise is the throw. That same reviewer usually finds Voluspa light, yet her 38 oz 3-wick hearth earned an eight out of ten for strength and scented most of her downstairs, then drifted up the staircase into the second-floor hallway. It melted edge to edge from the first burn, left no soot, and kept its wax white through four-hour burns, with only a little mushrooming on the wicks. She went on to buy the 5-wick (on sale, still $250) and now calls it a holiday staple she won't skip. An Anthropologie reviewer reports a good burn as well, and on Voluspa's own site it sits at 4.8 stars from about 1,300 reviews.
Holiday pricing
Expect a holiday markup: $30 buys the 6.5-ounce Classic, rated for 40 hours, $48 the 18-ounce jar, and $275 the five-wick hearth, about $25 above the brand's usual hearth price. The quiet bargain is the three-wick tin, which costs just $2 more than the Classic for the same rated 40 hours, with three wicks doing the work instead of one. Anthropologie's December candle sale and Sephora's fall savings event have both knocked a fifth to nearly a third off the price, and Voluspa has tucked free minis into orders.
The green jar does plenty of the selling, with scalloped embossed glass and small metallic dots that read as ornaments, and it's thick enough that people plan to keep it. Amazon shows 4.5 stars over 182 ratings, the basis for its 9.0 Glow Score. The only steady complaint is the calendar: one Reddit poster went looking for a dupe just to have this smell year-round.
