Bewitching Banyan Forest is a gray-afternoon candle: warm, woody and a little shadowy, the green, Elphaba-inspired side of the Wicked candles Voluspa made for the films. Shops sum the scent up as amber, spice and woods, while Voluspa's own notes (phosphorescent forest, banyan branches, luminous amber) are more mood than recipe. It is the less sugary of the two witches, and a Reddit commenter who recommends it finds the pink Perfectly Pink Yuzu simply too sweet next to it.
It seems to need heat to make its case. One YouTube viewer liked the pink candle better when sniffing the two mini tins side by side, then switched allegiance once both were burning and now lights the green one whenever the weather turns gloomy. A Nordstrom reviewer likes how long the scent hangs around after the flame is out, and someone on Reddit loves the matching diffuser so much they went looking for a perfume that smells the same.
The emerald jar with its gem-cut lid is half the appeal. The boxed 8.5-ounce candle costs $48, and Voluspa rates it for about 60 hours; a mini tin is $17, an easy way to try both witches before committing. If moody woods are your thing, its Wicked stablemate Palo Santo Spells goes further into smoke and incense.
