Voluspa now has two Christmas-tree candles, and people who know both mostly agree on which one is louder. A popular candle YouTuber who loves the brand calls White Cypress extraordinarily faint, close to unscented even by Voluspa's gentle standards, and says the newer Noble Fir Garland doesn't just replace it but outperforms it. That's the sharpest verdict out there, and it isn't the only one.
On Reddit, White Cypress has a loyal following. One person says a 3-wick version fills their open-plan house, another simply calls the throw great, and a third says it's the only Voluspa they'd ever rebuy. A blogger who saved a small jar for Christmas Day found it scented a large room well, though not a huge open space, and noted that it melted evenly to the edge. So the split may come down to format and room as much as the candle.
Voluspa's current version comes in iridescent green glass, with a fresh description that mentions white cedar and crushed pine needles; whether the formula changed along with the copy is anyone's guess. The lineup runs from a $16 mini tin and a $24 Small Jar (rated for 50 hours) to the $36 Classic, the $40 Large Jar (100 hours) and hearths at $90 and $250. Its 54 Amazon reviews average 4.4 stars, which works out to an 8.8 Glow Score.
The scent itself causes less argument. People describe it as crisp, fresh and properly piney, closer to a cut tree than a sugary holiday candle. Voluspa's notes are white cypress, evergreen wood, juniper berry and mint leaves, and its older fragrance story added frosted bergamot and a little sugar plum. One TikToker files it under hotel-lobby woodsy and lights it in the fall; another layers it with French Cade Lavender and Gilt Pomander & Hinoki for a fresh holiday blend. And at least one fan burns it year-round, proof that a good tree scent doesn't have to come down with the ornaments.
